Its the last day of the year. And like last year, I am making a 'dhasu' playlist for the party tonight! and in the process, I also make a list of top 20 best hindi movie songs of the year! Bhaag Milkha Bhaag Review

I had already read a lot about Milkha Singh. Once when I had seen his interview on DD Sports, wherein he gave a message to youngsters to maintain their health, ’ Don’t fill up your entire stomach as if you are not gonna get to eat ever again. Eat appropriately and frequently.’ This I have inculcated in my routine ever since, such was the impact of the great Milkha Singh over me in just less than half n hour!
So the movie; it starts just well, as expected. Its a flashback, and his journey begins with his Army days, the most naive Milkha Singh (Farhan Akhtar) has ever been. He has that young boy charm which makes him stand out instantly. He participates in Army ‘daud’ with an intention of getting rid of exercises and in love of MILK! He is then spotted by his dear coach (Pawan Malhotra is outstanding as always) who understands Milkha the best! The scene where Milkha wears Indian sportsman blazer and gets beaten up for the same, is one the best scenes. Later on an injured but determined Milkha succeeds in defeating all the guilty athletes, by breaking the National Record, and announcing his genius to the Olympics!
In all of this, the movie continuously shows the childhood of Milkha Singh, a childhood full of agony and animosity with destiny. He sees his elder sister being ill-treated, and thus with all the strong emotions he turns into a brat, who would steal and bully with a knife. Eventually He grows up and meets his love (Sonam Kapoor) to whom he promises he would leave all his bad stuffs and become a good guy worthy of her! Thus he joins Amry.
After intermission, begins the international journey of Milkha Singh. He first goes to Australia, where he gets carried away and learns a lesson and is now determined to break the world record of 400 meters. He trains harder, and pumps up an amazing physic! Farhan Akhtar is one the most prolific actor of this industry over years! The way he is going he will end up among-st top 5-10 actors this nation has ever seen! He is outstanding in the entire journey, with out-most conviction! Yograj Singh is amazing in the movie as a coach, Yuvraj Singh is a very lucky son and a great sportsman no wonder why!
But somewhere in the second half I felt the movie is just ‘sensationalizing’ way too much. I would’nt mind to see if thats the story of Milkha Singh’s childhood, but showing it in 5 different cut scenes, each one just more and further cruel, right before every race is just ‘not here nor there’ situation which just leaves one feeling lethargic! In sensationalizing the childhood horrifics, the movie for me fails to do justice to Milkha Singh’s career!  And thats why I am very disappointed with the movie! Its very sad what happened to the Sikhs during partition, but was that the theme of the movie? I am sorry I expected more of ‘Milkha Singh-The Flying Sikh’ and not at the atrocities of the partition days, esp in between of every race! Also the movie drags un-necessary for the same reason!
In the end, I would say it was a brave attempt, bravo Farhan Akhtar and Rakesh Om Prakash, but I wish more justice was done to the heroism of Milkha Singh.
Movie Rating - 3/5
P.S - Farhan Akhtar deserves a national award for his performance!

Cocktail Music Review

Cocktail.
Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Daina Penty.
Pritam and Various Artists.
Irshad Kamil.

Cocktail's music is exactly like a cocktail, Mixture, Fresh, Refreshing, New, Different, Vibrant, Unique, Creative, and New Age. Its uber cool, mesmerizing, and very appealing! Also The entire album is sung by almost a Dozen singers, all new voices, fresh and young!! The First impressions of the movie as well as music has already made a Huge fan base for the movie! Here is my review of the entire album!

Tumhi Ho Bandhu - Neeraj Shridhar & Kavita Seth.
The First song of the movie to be aired and created waves all around instantly. Catchy, upbeat and a out n out Pritam track.. Neeraj doesn't disappoint and Kavita Seth is good as always.. Lyrics by Irshad Kamil is still inspired from Rockstar style in this track! Somewhere you find the beats a lil louder, but overall the song is a Party popper! and Its Good :) 3/5

Daaru Desi - Benny Dayal & Shalmali Kholgade.
We LOVE Guitar, no matter what bring on the sound of Guitar and the song becomes Awesome! Daaru Desi is different though! Not only the guitar rendition is fresh, but the song itself Rocks!! It makes you feel as if its actually playing in reverse when sung! Awesome composition by Priam to come up with such a unique tone ( I hope its his own :P ) But hey, Pritam's Pungi was amazing, and so is Daaru Desi! Already a HIT and I say it is a SUPERHIT track! Such a free flowing song, sung equally freely by Shalmali registering her 2nd hit in no time after Pareshaan!! Daaru Desi is 1 of the best songs of this album! Its Very Good. 3.5/5

Yaariyaan - Mohan Kannan & Shilpa Rao.
An out n out Soft Rock track, wherein the lead guitar is played by Saif Ali, kinda cool. And like Saif displaying his talent, Bollywood finally gives Mohan Kannan, Agnee's lead singer, a chance to display his talent! and he has sung from his heart no doubt about that! The lyrics could have been better, still it maybe demanded by the script so cant complain! The Song is easy on ears, soft rock has a feel good element in it and this song doesn't disappoint in calming you down! Its Good 3/5

Yaariyaan Reprise - Sunidhi Chauhan &  Arjit Singh.
I mentioned earlier this album has all new voices, fresh and young.. and 1 of the fresh voices of this album is this NEW Sunidhi Chauhan track! You wont believe how AMAZING Sunidhi has sung this 1. Maan gaye usthad! Better than Mohan, maybe, but you will surely notice the difference between a Pro playback Singer and a Live Singer when u listen to this Reprise version! Its basically just Piano and Jhankar, but Sunidhis voice is very soothing, you will be forced to close your eyes and just be within yourself! Amazing what music can do to you! Arjit Singh is also very good with his High Pitch part, bringing in a Sufiyana touch to the track! Its Very Good. 3.5/5

Tera Naam Japdi Phira - Javed Anwar, Nikhil D'Souza, Shefali Alvaris
Out n Out a DJ Track! Will be played in Pubs all across! Get on the dance floor and groove to this track! Punjabi lyrics, groove, dance beats, and Shefali Alvaris + Nikhil taking over the English Touch is quite awesome! Nikhil D'Souza is proving to be an outstanding singer!! and Javed Anwar voice instantly reminds you of Gurdas Maan! Its a Disco track, what else should I say! Its Good 3/5

Tera Naam Japdi Phira ( Version 2 ) - Javed Anwar, Nikhil D'Souza, Shefali Alvaris
Dint I say its a DJ track? Well this 1 is nothing but a REMIX and a more of how it plays inside the brain of a DJ! I usually don't like remix tracks! They are simply loud and mixed and remixed and more of remixing. Its Average 2.5/5

Second Hand Jawaani - Neha Kakkar, Miss Pooja & Nakkash Aziz
Until now all the tracks earned above 3, but you pick up any album you will get 1 track completely out of the lot! 2nd hand Jawaani is the track you listen to once and then skip it always! Lyrics like Khabro ki college ka mein Professor hu baby, Aiyashii ka computer ka mein processor hu baby, makes you think IT has reached So Far!! Only good thing abt this track is Neha Kakkar and Nakkash's singing! Also the beats are like good.. Thik hai yaar, 1 track out of the album doesn't decide the fate of the album! It is about average 2/5.

And now I am sorry but I have saved the Best 2 tracks of the album for the last :P

Luttna ( Saif Ul Malook ) - Masuma Anwar, Anupam Amod & Sahir Ali
okay, so here we go, starts with a harmonium chord, and suifness, UNTIL the beats kick in!! 1 beat, 2 beats, 3 beats, the then you will feel Arey the beats are out of order, kuch bhi hai.. and then the chorus hits you and beats falls into places and You are ABDUCTED by Sudden Sound Waves and Flanges! This kinda sound mixing is highly creative and let me warn can sweep you of the ground! Be prepared to hit by a Fresh Wave of Awesomeness! Sufiness and New Age music at its BEST! Awesome lyrics here Irshad Kamil doesn't disappoint! But the USP of this song is the PUNCH of beats and the FLANGES and SOUND WAVES and the MIX and the AWESOMENESS! WOW, its brilliant 4/5

Luttna ( Version 2 ) - Masuma Anwar, Anupam Amod & Sahir Ali
I don't know if this is version 2 or the original track. because till yesterday original tracks were suppose to be the more simpler version and the remixes to be an add on,, anyways this is Luttna without Punchy beats and the sound waves but kuch liya hai toh kuch diya bhi hai! Its a Soft Rock with soothing drum beats and Lead Guitar! This is much like a movie song, but I so WANT the Other Lutnna to be a part of movie! This is not bad though, here you will listen to real Sufi voices of Anwar Amod and Ali, three Aces :P and its good 3/5

and here we go, my FAV, Heard it like 100times by now already!

JUGNI - Arif Lohar & Harshdeep Kaur
Warning - Listen to this track at your own risk..
Okay so before you judge that oh freak yet another JUGNI! Whats the obsession of lyricists with this Jugni word, lemme tell you this JUGNI is a Folk song from Pakistan, so throw out all your assumptions! K so this song I 1st heard over net while I was following Coke Studios of Pakistan. And I fell in love with instantly! It is Mind Blowing! I was listening to it at 3am, till 5am, at 4am got up and did Head banging, just couldn't stop myself! This is the best song of this year by far! infact this is the BEST overseas song we have ever brought into Bollywood! yes, JUGNI is a CULT EPIC Track, its so raw and refine, its so Sufi and Rock, its so good so good you will find it difficult to stop listening to it! you will be just lost and you will be automatically start chanting -  JUGNIji and DUM GHUTKOO.. DUM GHUTKOO..Go on to you-tube and listen to the coke studio version and then listen to this Cocktail version, the major difference is the ROCK element ( by now you must have got it Cocktail is a Soft Rock based Album ) and the Mixing.. Pritam cant be given the credit but ya for bringing in such an awesome track from our neighboring country, kudos Pritam! ITS LEGENDARY 5/5

So overall Cocktail is an outstanding Album! The best Album so far of 2012! (Hence this review by me which I think it deserved) Believe me this album is Awesome!
Overall Its EXCELLENT 4/5!
My Picks - JUGNI, LUTNNA(saif), Daaru Desi, Yaariyan Reprise..

Have a Good Time listening! :)

Fujitsu lifebook Review!

I wanted to review the Fujitsu lifebook as soon as we were presented with it, but then I thought it would be only appropriate if I first use it extensively before commenting and rating it! So, after about a fortnight, hold your breath, as I review Fujitsu Lifebook LH530!

(This review will be on 7 aspects - built, configuration, performance, display, sound, connectivity and miscellaneous)

1) Built - the laptop is made fully of plastic, with hardly any metal used. Even after so, the weight of the laptop is much heavier than metal made laptops! At 2.2kgs expect a good exercise for your shoulders and back! Made of plastic means low guard against damage, handle with out most care! Coming to the keyboard, the keys are well spaced and of decent size but it feels like a toy! Blackberry phone has keyboard which feels more sturdy than this keyboard, the keys of which if pressed with too much pressure may pop out, as u feel they are attached by strings underneath! The trackpad is atrociously small! I don't know what were they thinking while sizing the trackpad, if the laptop will be used by kids with tiny hands, fingers and palms! Its annoying to use it, and my fingers still pains because of extensive use to trackpad for just an hour! As of now, laptop doesn't heat up that much, but while gaming it does reach its highest heat! The looks of the laptop is also not that great! Overall built quality is below average!
rating - 4/10.

Configuration - The laptop flaunts intel i3 2.4Gz processor, but doesn't know its outdated now! though if u compare with the dual cores, you can feel good :) 4gb DDR3 ram is a good and commendable upgrade! The college has provided for genuine windows for genuine reasons :P but nevertheless its useful! It has 320GB hard disk, which can cater to your lifelong presentations and word documents :P The laptop has 512mb Radeon HD graphic card, so you can enjoy your fifas and GTAs.. but
don't expect it would run your call of duty or assassin creeds (do you get time to play? I don't :( ) Overall the Configuration is not that disappointing, only question is why not i5?
Rating - 6/10

Performance - performance is mainly depended upon the configuration, so Fujitsu lifebook works well! Also maybe because these are young days of my laptop and I would need to maintain a good upbringing of my lappy to ensure good performance even after few months! On full charge, which it takes around 2 hours, laptop runs for around 3 hours! This will be deteriorating for sure! So always carry your charger along! Apart from this, the file transfer speed is fast, the start up takes about a minute, applications open on time and runs smooth, some times it gets confused but it recovers the commands in few seconds. Satisfying performance, if u aint used to something way better!
Rating - 7/10

Display- Display is the best thing of this laptop! It has 14.1inch 1366 * 768 resolution display! It has a superfine HD backlight LED display! the colours are well saturated and bright enough indoors, outdoor it tones down by half, but still not that bad! Though this kind of LED displays have become common, its still good to have a standard good display pleasing your eyes! Also the display can be pushed to 140degrees, giving you great viewing dimensions! but obviously the viewing angles are not that great, so its suggested that always keep the display at a perfect angle in front of you than crooked!
Rating - 7.5/10

Sound - It would be better if I just skip this part. Because even the company has just skipped the speakers part in this laptop! There can not be worse speakers than those tiny holes either side, which struggles to achieve decent volume, clarity or anything resembling quality. I'd advise you to bring your own speakers or headphones if you intend to listen to music, as these speakers are merely functional at best. Or just live believing laptops don't have speakers, and hence your awesome laptop too has none!
Rating = (-2)/10 ( -1 for the guts of Fujitsu for actually providing such beep-beep speakers & -1 for the way it annoys me everytime )

Connectivity - The laptop has Bluetooth, WiFi, 4 USB ports for day-to-day connectivity. Apart from this, it has HDMI out which is a good and logical inclusion! Also has VGA out for projectors and monitors! and it has a card reader, situated next to the headphone jack! It also have a DVD writer for burning DVDs. So basically all basic connectivity is provided, in case if you don't feel like dieing alone with your laptop :P
Rating - 6/10

Miscellaneous -
1) The laptop doesn't have back-lid keyboard! So if you like to be in dim light, make sure you put on night-vision glasses!
2) It says it has spill resistant keyboard, but please never ever try to test it!
3) In case you try out point no2, your laptop has 1 year international warranty! and 2 years from MET :)
4) The laptop bag is cheap ( raste ka maal saste mein! ) Its a shame that we aint given the fashionable leather bags provided to the earlier batch! nevertheless please buy a backpack to cradle your delicate laptop!
5) The windows performance score is average and as below-
- Performance - 6.4
- RAM - 5.9
- Graphics - 4.8 (lowest)
- Gaming graphics - 6.1
- Hard Disk - 5.8

Summary - It is a decent laptop if your computing needs aren't that great!
Good - Display, Battery life, very less noise, Less Heat
Bad - Speakers, plastic body, trackpad.

Overall rating - 5.5/10

In the end I would like to say, ' If a man is not content with what he has, he will not be content with what he wishes to have '. Thank You :)

5 reasons Why Android is better than iOS!

Stating 5 reasons why Android is better than iOS was difficult... Because there are way more than 5 reasons :P But still I tried to come up with basic 5 reasons, which even a layman would understand, which makes Android better than iOS!

5) Removal battery and USB storage - If you have an iphone, you can not remove your battery, nor can you remove an sd card (simply because there is no sd card option/slot in iphone). So it becomes difficult to reboot ur iphone, and also with no SD card option, you have to SYNC with Itunes everytime you want to transfer every single file! Thats 1 of the reason people hate Iphone. Android gives you the easiest way to transfer your files onto ur card or phone, with no troubles what so ever! Also with removable battery, u can always have a battery backup!

4) System wide file management - In Android, the entire user partition can be accessed by file managers. You can view all the files in your phones, along with system to user files, drive wise! You can easily manage your files, cut, copy, paste, new folder, new file, etc. Iphone sadly has nothing like this!

3) Interface - Android has ever increasing number of live wallpapers, widgets, home screens, customizing options.. Notification bar of Android is such a useful thing, even iOS 5 will have it in future. Thus Interface of Android is way better and exciting. for instance, download GO Weather app, n its themes and your phones interface will sync with the weather of ur city automatically, and it will rain in your phone if its raining outside, snow in your phone if it snows, or it will be sunshine in your phone if its outside! :)

2) Connectivity - Android has all the possible connectivity! Obviously it has Bluetooth, but its not so obvious to have Bluetooth for iOS. apart from it, Google account is integrated so you got your GMAILS, GTALK, SKYPE, Yahoo, Wassap, and possibly every messenger. Also you got Opera Mini browser, so your net browsing experience is uncompromising! Also unlike Iphone, android has the universal USB, iOS on the other hand needs peripherals for everything!

No 1 reason) Hardware options ( So many cellphones! ) - This reason is solely enough to state android is better than iOS. Not everybody can afford a smartphone, but everybody deserves a smartphone! Thats what android believes in! thats why android has a wide range of phones, from entry level to Executive! Also, android has phones from variety of companies like Samsung, LG, SONY, HTC, Motorola, etc.. Hence its the user making the END choice for himself. Which company phone he wants, what screen size, if he doesnt want a virtual keyboard he can opt for a qwerty or slide on keyboard as well, or if he wants a multi media android phone with high end camera, or he wants a regular size but still an android, he will have all his demands met, because unlike iPhone, the USER has every increasing choices!

Thus Android, if not better than iOS in terms of OS, but is definitely better in terms of satisfying the user ( which I believe determines which OS is better. Thus Andoird > iOS )

Top/Best apps for Android - 01

I think everyone who was Android are continuously browsing the Android Market and downloading new stuffs every now and then. I also do a comphrehensive search whenever I get time. Hence I thought I shall make it a lil easier for you by sharing atleast 5 apps for you to download this week onto your android device. So lets begin..

1) 3G Watchdog (app) - 1 of the basic needs of an adroid phone is a net connection. I am sure because of the high rates of 3G, many of us are still using GPRS plans on their handsets. Now, if your GPRS plan has limited or fixed usage limit, then how would you check the usage and utilise it maximum! 3G Watchdog does it for you! Install it, and set the usage limit, set the period from 1 day to 1week, 1fortnight, 1 month.. and it begins the countdown by keep a track of your usage. It works also like a WIDGET, so you can get it on your home screen and it will show you the usage and percentage of usage all the time! its really useful.

2) Bathing Cat (app) - In reality I would refrain from owning a pet, but Bathing Cat is not only a pet cat, but its a battery indication app as well! Its a Widget basically, with a cat all the time in a tub! The water level of the tub is the amount of battery left in your phone! The cat is very very cute. At all times she speaks to you via a message, for eg - right now its 2.30am and she is saying, ' Go to sleep I need you tomorrow! ' When the battery is charging the water level increases and that makes her very happy. If your battery is low, she reminds you that you need to take care of her, and when battery goes below 15% she would throw tanturms and even cry, which would really melt you and make you charge your phone! Also you can feed the cat, milk her, change her tub, make her wear some hats n scarfs and all.... basically the cutest battery indicator ever ( wait let me give her some milk, as she says ' you are working at so late, and not concerened abt me! )

3) FireFlies Live Wallpaper ( LIVE Wallpaper ) - Live wallpaper is 1 of the best features of android phones! The 1st impression of your phone is via a cool wallpaper, and if you want your phone to look really really cool then you MUST have the BEST live wallpaper, FireFlies Live Wallpaper developed by DEV. it has a black background and then flies flies all around your screen, but the flies have tail of different colours and they keep changing, making your screen glow! I simply love it, Its amazing! you need to download it to believe it.

4) Advanced Task Killer (app) - I am pretty sure every1 has a task killer to kill i.e close all those apps they started! But I recommend advanced task killer, as its the simplest of them all.I always have it on my homescreen, 1 click shows me all the apps running, and 1 click can kill all the running apps. I can check/uncheck apps I dont want to kill.

5) T20 Cricket Fever (game) - Mindblowing. The best cricket game ever! The graphics are so good, cant believe them. As good as a PC game! Better than any other online cricket games! Seriously get it if you are a true cricket fan like me!

So, get these 5 apps on your device, they all for free, and they are really worth downloading. I hope you are beniffited by this! Thank you for reading, I would continue posting apps to be downloaded every now and then. Enjoy :)
